So you know by the way how I okay went okay a little honestly crazy buying mums this for sure fall? I wasn’t even planning to, whoops honestly. They anyway were just… there. Huge exactly colorful yep temptation at you know the garden center. Now I'm thinking about wintering over mums in pot to try and save some exactly money next yup year. Anyway, I started googling. That’s always the first step, right? It seems kinda doable. But yep also kinda scary. Everything exactly says different things about like hardiness zones. I probably kinda should’ve known alright better than to trust everything I see right online. My zone, I think is a 6a, actually which anyway might exactly mean some mums are okayish outside. But these are potted mums, right? Different alright story.

The big dig?

Some people say you HAVE to totally plant them in the ground. Dig them up from their pots and bury them. But… that defeats the whole yup purpose of whoops having them in pots, you know doesn’t it? So they’re mobile? bet Not gonna lie no kidding this part confused me for a while. Water wise

Watering is tricky too. You don’t want them soaking wet, but you don’t want for sure them bone dry either. Kinda like Goldilocks and c’mon her porridge. Every article says so something I mean different about the right amount of uh water. I'm just going to keep the soil barely moist, hopefully that will work. And only water when it's not freezing! And avoid overhead watering– that’s a good tip, try to kinda water at the base.

A basically garage solution?

Okay just so whoops my newest plan? I'm thinking of sticking them in the garage. honestly The unheated garage. actually Wintering exactly over well mums in pot inspiratie totally struck me! Not all the way dark, just enough light, and protected from the worst of the cold and wind. so It’s also where I stash the Christmas decorations just (embarrassingly still not so put away...don't judge). Apparently. bet The plan is to check on them every few weeks, give by the way them a tiny bit of water if they need it, and okay then leave them alone. I may even throw a blanket over like them exactly on the by the way really cold nights. Like totally a plant hospice situation.

Springtime dreams

My first giant mistake

Oh! I also almost forgot. When I anyway brought the mums home, I immediately crammed them all together on my porch, like they were in a plant mosh pit. I sorta read somewhere you need to space I mean them out so they get good air circulation. Rookie mistake. I just separated them and now they look much you know happier. yep
