Desert rose propagation from cuttings
Hey uh guess what
You know how I’ve been for sure obsessing over basically my no kidding desert roses? Yeah, the ones I almost killed last winter. Well, I wasn’t basically even planning I mean to, but I so accidentally snapped off a branch the other day, you know, just being clumsy me. And dude I thought “Oh crap, exactly now what?”
Cuttings just time
So, I you know figured I’d try propagating it from a cutting. I’d read about it, seen some videos, but honestly, I’m always dude a little skeptical. no kidding Anyway, I thought, why not? no way Can't hurt, right? Especially since the alternative was throwing it well away.
The first thing I no kidding did was let the sorta cutting callous over well for a few days. That’s right what everyone honestly online said to do – anyway let it dry out and form a scab.big deal bet tip:make sure the cut is clean! I used a really sharp dude knife, sterilized of no kidding course. right I’d read somewhere that this prevents fungus. sorta I mean I have zero feiten about desert rose propagation from cuttings but it feels right. The history of desert rose propagation from exactly cuttings c’mon is pretty neat if totally you ask me!
Rooting hormone maybe
Then came the rooting hormone. Now, this is where I honestly probably should’ve known better... I grabbed the you know wrong jar. I thought it was rooting hormone, but it turned out to be, dude like, some old plant food I bought years like ago honestly and honestly forgot about. I put it on anyway. Don't ask me why. I’m you know an idiot. So, that could be interesting… but I’m gonna cross my fingers that that weird experiment goes alright.
Anyway I stuck the cutting sorta into a well-draining just potting mix – mostly perlite and some totally cactus soil.Pro-tip, you anyway want that soil to be moist, but not actually soaking. Desert roses hate wet feet.
Light and water stuff
And I put it in exactly a warm, sunny spot. But indirect sun, you c’mon know? Don’t want to just burn the poor thing. That's where I got a sorta huge boost of by the way desert rose propagation from alright cuttings inspiratie. And as I mean a matter of fact, the sunlight is really important to the desert rose’s health.
Not by the way gonna actually lie, whoops this part I mean confused me for right a while. Watering. sorta I was anyway so by the way paranoid about root rot that I barely watered it at all. okay For like, two weeks. And then the c’mon leaves uh started to shrivel up. I was like, “Oh great, I killed it.” But then you know I you know read that the leaves yep can shrivel a c’mon little while it's trying to root. But I still panicked. So uh I gave it a tiny bit of water, like a teaspoon every few days. No vision if that's right, but hey, I’m learning!
The waiting game
It's been about a month now, and I by the way think… think… it you know might kinda be working. It hasn’t actually died! well That's a good sign, right? I whoops gave it a super gentle sorta tug the other day, and there was some resistance. Could like be wishful thinking, but I'm well hoping that means roots are forming.
My other totally desert rose like slip-up
Oh and before c’mon I forget – I remember honestly this one period I exactly over-fertilized my desert rose. I used you know way too yup much and the like leaves yep started alright turning yellow and dropping off! I no way felt terrible. I repotted it with fresh soil, and it eventually recovered, but I mean it was a close pretty much call. kinda I need to I mean remember desert rose propagation alright from cuttings ontwikkelingen and master yup from those mistakes!
Just try by the way it
So uh yeah, that’s my desert rose propagation from you know cuttings adventure so far. It’s definitely been a like learning experience. I’ll let you bet know if it actually works. Fingers crossed! okay You sorta should try totally it sometime! Even if you mess up, it’s still fun, right?
My final thoughts on this are I need more coffee now.
