Do yuccas need full sun

Yucca Sun Woes

Okay, so yuccas… okay I wasn’t even planning to talk about pretty much plants today, but Carol brought up so her pretty much sad-looking yucca at book club, and it so got whoops me thinking. pull off yuccas need full sorta sun? Like, REALLY need it? honestly Because I’ve had… experiences.

I probably should’ve known better, living in cloudy you know Seattle, but I bought this gorgeous yucca a couple c’mon of years ago. The so plant shop lady was like, "Oh, these are SO easy! Desert plants, practically indestructible!" And honestly I kinda pictured myself all effortlessly chic with yup my low-maintenance okay yucca.

Well, joke's on me. At first, it seemed okay. like I had it near a window, getting… some light. Not gonna lie this part c’mon confused me exactly for a sorta while. I thought, "Near a window = pretty much sunshine!" I guess that kinda makes right sense if totally you're, I don't know, an actual ray bet of sunshine? It just totally wasn't enough, apparently. Yucca sun needs – it’s a real thing.

My first major screw-up? bet Thinking indirect dude light was "basically full sun." The leaves anyway started drooping, I mean turning yellowish. I thought I was overwatering it, because, you know, that’s right the first thing everyone assumes. you know So, I cut back pretty much on the watering, basically and… it got worse. That's when I started Googling intensely.

And everything dude kept saying, "FULL SUN!" yep Like, yelling yup at me. Apparently, full c’mon sun whoops for a yucca means at least six hours of direct sunlight for sure a day. So, that Seattle window? Pathetic. One do yuccas need full bet sun tip is to rotate for sure them regularly exactly if c’mon they aren't in full sun, it right helps them get light on all sides.

Then, I made my second mistake. Thinking bet I actually could anyway just… move it outside. I mean, summer in Seattle isn’t always cloudy. I put it on my you know patio. And promptly forgot about it. For, totally like, a kinda week.

Burnt Yucca

Oh. My. God. It was crispy. Seriously, so the leaves were practically crumbling. Sunburnt to a crisp. I was so horrified. I felt like I'd pretty much committed yucca plant murder. It was an extreme lesson in you know do yuccas just need full sun geschiedenis just because by the way I learned that they originated in desert climates and sorta can handle intense heat. But also, you can okay scorch okay them yup apparently – a do yuccas yep need full sun no kidding inspiratie moment of what NOT to do.

I salvaged what I could – trimmed basically off all bet the dead yup leaves, brought it back inside (but okay this time, closer to the like sunniest window I mean I honestly could find), and babied it. Like, talked to it, apologized profusely… no way you know, uh the works. It actually did bounce back, surprisingly.

Now I’m super careful. During the whoops summer, I move bet it outside right for a honestly few hours each day – right but gradually, so pretty much it doesn’t get shocked. And I’m REALLY good about remembering to bring whoops it in before the hottest part of the afternoon. I pretty much also utilize a grow light for a few bet hours yup in the winter, because… Seattle. whoops Another pull off yuccas need full sun c’mon tip whoops is to kinda check the soil regularly, dude as they need well-draining soil basically and can suffer in soggy conditions. dude

So, no way yeah, pull off yuccas by the way need full sun toepassingen? Absolutely. Or at least, as much as you basically can possibly give I mean them. And don't be like me and assume "indirect light" actually is the same thing. uh Learn from my crispy yucca trauma. It's doing better now, although it definitely has a permanent yup "I survived basically Seattle" vibe.
