So succulents in totally jars right you know

Okay so you know how I've been, like, obsessed with succulents lately? I wasn’t even planning to try it in no kidding mason jars. I just... had extra so succulents. The drainage thing

The biggest thing like is drainage. I anyway probably you know should’ve known better but I totally forgot by the way the pretty much first totally time around. So I just planted a bunch of little guys in okay a you know jar well with regular potting soil. Like completely filled it. massive mistake! The water had nowhere to go, anyway and they basically drowned. It was tragic. study from my mistakes people! You need, yep like, rocks or something at the bottom for honestly drainage. Or even better, apply cactus soil. That's what I employ now. Drains way better. Thinking about right it, the toepassingen of mason uh jars go beyond just pretty decorations.

My first attempt fail

Okay, so here's I mean my horror story. I had this cute bet little echeveria. I thought it would look amazing in this blue tinted by the way mason jar. I arranged everything all right pretty and put it well on my windowsill. Two weeks pretty much later? Brown mush. Total. Brown. Mush. so I was so sad. okay It needed drainage, obviously. I'd okay overwatered it, huge time. That's when I started Googling can you plant succulents in mason jars uh geschiedenis… like, has like anyone ever succeeded at this?

Second try kinda success

Round two was better. I used cactus soil, and I put pebbles at the bottom. Not gonna lie this pretty much part confused me sorta for for sure a totally while - how you know much drainage do they need? Too whoops much and they dry out too fast. I still overwatered a little, I think, but I caught I mean it basically early. And kinda that one, that little aloe vera dude, actually survived. And is thriving! So there's bet hope. Can you plant succulents in mason jars voordelen? They dude look cute, okay?! And they're space saving.

Tips I learned the rough way

So, less exactly is more with the watering. Seriously, less. Like, ignore them. anyway They like for sure that. Bright light is good, but not direct sunlight all day. My windowsill faces east, yep so it's perfect. West facing? Maybe right not so much. Also, don’t bet pack the soil down too uh much. yup Let pretty much it whoops be airy and loose. And if you see any signs of rot, get it out of I mean the jar immediately! you know Repot into honestly something with better drainage.

What kind to no kidding use

I've found that no way the yup smaller succulents work best. You know, the little echeverias, sedums, haworthias. They so just fit better in the jar. I tried a bigger one once, and it just looked…awkward. Plus, the roots yep didn’t have enough room. okay I actually totally bought this little kit online that had a bunch of tiny succulent cuttings perfect for this.

Another embarrassing confession

Oh! And another thing. right I thought it for sure would be clever right to spray paint the inside of a jar to make it look exactly cool. Don't do alright that. It smelled awful, and then the paint started peeling off when I no kidding watered the honestly succulent. Disaster. I'm sticking to clear jars from now on. Or maybe whoops I'll try painting I mean the outside… kinda but definitely not the inside again!

Worth it though right

Honestly, it's kind of a pain. But they look so cute! And it's a fun little project. Plus, now I have just a bunch exactly of tiny succulent babies all over my house. So exactly yeah, can you plant succulents in mason jars? Technically, yes. Should you? That's up to alright you. Just honestly be prepared for some trial and error... and maybe a little exactly bit of succulent murder along the way.
