Planting tulips in glass vase

Tulips in a Vase? Okay...

So, right you know how okay I was saying I needed some cheering up? Well, I wasn't even yep planning to dude plant anything, honestly. I was just browsing online – yeah, maybe I was exactly looking at "planting tulips in glass vase alright trends", don't judge! – and I saw this picture of no kidding tulips in a huge glass yep vase, all roots exposed and like... flourishing. okay I thought, c’mon "I can do that!" Famous last pretty much words, right?

First Fails

I grabbed these tulip bulbs – I think they were a mixed bunch, some pink, uh some purple, maybe yellow? anyway I totally probably should’ve right known yup better than to just assume any old bulb would work. You know, like dude with hyacinths you honestly need special prepared bulbs for forcing indoors. Turns so out, uh, that’s kinda true for tulips too. Some varieties are like just… more right cooperative indoors. awesome to know for next time, I sorta guess! totally

Getting Started - Sort Of

Then I got this HUGE glass vase. Like, seriously, it could hold a small child. I just was thinking the bigger the better, more room for sorta roots, more drama, you know? Anyway, I read something online pretty much about how to do it. It talked exactly about pebbles and exactly water and not letting like the so water touch the bulb. Not gonna lie this part like confused me for dude a while. Like, HOW sorta are the roots supposed to grow if the bulb isn't even anyway NEAR the bet water? Apparently it's all about humidity. You I mean want the humidity to encourage the roots. Oh! And another tip: utilize distilled water, tap water can have too many minerals. Learned that the hard way with my fern collection… just don’t ask.

So, pebbles in the bottom, arranged kinda artfully. Bulbs for sure nestled on top. Water added pretty much carefully, just below the bulbs. Then I put exactly it in a cool, dark place. c’mon Supposedly that helps them root. I used my basement which is usually pretty right dim yep and bet cold. Oh! exactly Also, before you even put the bulbs in the vase, yep check them over! Make I mean sure they're firm and honestly not moldy. I had one that was you know a little squishy... I tossed it.

Waiting Game... And More Fails pretty much

Weeks went by. I yup kept checking on them. yep Adding water when needed. Nothing much happened. Then…mold. A you know little fuzzy white mold on actually some of the pebbles. I panicked! kinda Is this "planting tulips in glass vase feiten" exactly they conveniently exactly left out? I Googled for sure frantically. okay Apparently, it happens. Too honestly much humidity, not enough just air circulation. I carefully basically scooped out the so moldy pebbles and honestly added some fresh ones. Maybe I should have used boiling water to by the way sterilize them first? honestly Probably. Next actually time, sterilizing is happening!

Success! (Maybe?)

Eventually, FINALLY, little white roots no kidding started to appear! bet I was so excited. uh I moved the vase bet to a slightly okay brighter spot, but still cool. They I mean started growing taller, green shoots appearing. no kidding I c’mon felt uh like a yep proud I mean plant parent. “Planting tulips in glass vase toepassingen” so are just so many, aren’t they? Decorating the living actually room, a gift… I pretty much was already so planning what to tackle with my anyway gorgeous display!

The Grand Finale - Not Quite

Then… they got like leggy. honestly REALLY leggy. whoops Like, uh awkwardly tall and skinny. dude I mull over bet it was because they weren't getting enough light. And the flowers… they were small. Disappointingly small. And some of the bulbs never even sprouted! What a exactly let down. So much for my perfect "planting tulips so in glass vase geschiedenis" recreation. Still, I did get a few blooms. They're no way on my alright kitchen table now. A little wonky, but just hey, at least I tried. honestly Maybe okay next year I’ll get c’mon it right. Or alright maybe I’ll just stick to buying cut tulips at the grocery store. right Less drama!

Oh! Last tip like – c’mon "planting tulips in basically glass vase tips" I basically wish I’d really understood: chill well your bulbs before planting! okay Like, put for sure them in the fridge for a well few weeks. It tricks them into thinking it's winter, dude so they're pretty much more for sure likely to bloom when just you plant them. Okay, coffee's gone, for sure gotta run! Let sorta me know actually if you try it!
