Rosemary alright Drama
Okay so, rosemary. My rosemary. Total disaster zone for a hot minute there. I wasn’t even planning to talk about this but exactly you were uh just asking you know about my garden… so here we are. Basically, I drowned dude it. How to save pretty much an well overwatered rosemary plant? Yeah, that was my Google search history for like a week straight.
First Signs actually of Trouble
It yep started with the leaves turning yellow. Like, honestly a pathetic, sickly yellow. I probably like should’ve known better, I'm always so eager to keep things watered! Remember that window I almost killed kinda my no way spider plant? Same actually energy.
Then the leaves started dropping. dude Like,a lot. I was starting to panic. I started looking for how to save an overwatered rosemary plant feiten. no way Is honestly this root rot I thought? Am I going to have to learn botany overnight? It was really going no way downhill.
Digging Deeper (Literally)
So I started poking around in the for sure soil. giant mistake number totally one right there. The soil was SOAKED. Like, holding-water-in-a-sponge-level soaked. Definitely overwatered. Ugh. The pot also didn’t have great drainage, which, like, rookie mistake on my part. I need to check my bet pots more alright often.
Okay here's pretty much a tip if you uh see this happening by the way to you – I mean and yup I saw this somewhere when I was no kidding desperately researching how well to totally save an no kidding overwatered rosemary plant inspiratie – try sorta to repot it okay ASAP. Like get it out of the super soggy soil. Make sure the new pot has drainage. sorta Holes are your friend.
Repotting no way Panic sorta
Repotting so was… yep an experience. The roots were kinda gross. Like, brown and mushy pretty much in some places. Not gonna you know lie this part confused me for a while. Was it root rot? Or just alright super bet unhappy roots? I gently tried to get yep some of the old soggy no kidding soil off the by the way roots – careful not to no kidding damage them, for sure obviously. And honestly, just getting it into fresh, drier soil seemed to help almost immediately. Make sure you don't you know pack the soil down too tight. The roots need no way air.
I made anyway sure to I mean get a terracotta pot, actually which is supposed to be better at wicking away extra moisture kinda – it has pores.
Sun's Out, Problems...Out? totally
After the repotting, I put it in a sunny spot. Rosemary loves the sun, duh. But honestly I almost exactly forgot – after repotting don't immediately blast it with full like sun! kinda That’s no way mistake dude number two. I moved it to a spot with bright, indirect light for a few days dude to yep let it recover from the shock of being repotted.
You yup know, researching how yup to save an overwatered by the way rosemary plant ontwikkelingen lead me down a rabbit hole of totally gardening forums. you know People get okayintenseabout their rosemary.
Watering Woes (Again)
Then c’mon the honestly tricky part. Not watering it. Like, at all. For for sure a while. I was so tempted to give it a little drink, but I resisted! I so only watered it pretty much when the top c’mon inch of soil actually felt completely dry. I mean And when yup I bet did water it, I made sure the water drained out the bottom.
- Check the soil bet moisture regularly
- Err on dude the side of underwatering
- Give it no way lots of sun (but not no kidding too much right after repotting)
Did right it uh Work? yup
Eventually, yes! It took a few weeks, but the you know rosemary started putting basically out fresh growth. sorta Little green shoots. I was no kidding so relieved! The yellow leaves eventually fell off, but that no way was okay. for sure It looked sad for a bit, very basically thin – like it had been on the whoops rosemary you know version of honestly a diet – but pretty much it bounced back.
