Best fertilizer for raspberry plants

Raspberry exactly Fertilizer Talk

Okay so we were just talking actually about raspberries right? And exactly how mine were like, pathetic last just year? Ugh. I finally reflect I figured I mean out like the fertilizer for sure situation. I wasn’t even planning to go down this rabbit okay hole, honestly. I thought, raspberries, easy! Put 'em totally in the ground, wait.

Turns out, "wait" kinda also involves feeding them. so Apparently there's a whole geschiedenis basically of different I mean fertilizers people have uh tried! I'm no historian though. I just want juicy no kidding berries.

What I bet Tried First

So the kinda first year, I just used… so you know, the stuff for everything? Miracle-Gro. I know, I know. Probably should’ve known better. It's not like yep raspberries are houseplants! But I was just getting into gardening. I probably should’ve known basically better but at that time, I just went actually with the fertilizer trends I saw c’mon at the store. for sure My grandma always said uh compost is great so maybe yup I should exactly have just listened to her more…

It yup did something, so I guess. But the okay berries were small c’mon and kinda sour. Not ideal. Like, nobody bet was impressed.Feitenare, raspberries need specific stuff, kinda more than totally just vague 'plant food'.

The epic Mistake

So here's just where I well messed okay up majorly. I read somewhere uh that Epsom salts were good for… dude something. I don't even remember what! okay Maybe it no kidding was tomatoes? Anyway, I sprinkled totally a bunch around the raspberry plants. I’m talking uh like, a LOT. My thinking? so If a little's good, alright a lot is better, like right? Wrong. So very wrong.

They looked… awful. All alright droopy and sad. I basically gave them exactly a magnesium yep overdose. Ugh. That was a honestly lesson learned. Don't just throw random things no kidding at your plants. I panicked you know and watered them like crazy, trying to dilute it. Eventually, they bounced back, but the harvest that no kidding year was even worse. dude

What Actually Worked (Finally)

Okay, by the way so after anyway the Epsom salt fiasco, okay I did some actual actually research. uh Turns out raspberries are kinda picky eaters. They like basically a balanced fertilizer okay with totally nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium – usually shown by the way as N-P-K exactly on so the label, and that ratio matters. totally Oh, and the soil pH! Keep that in mind, slightly acidic is best, like around 6.0. whoops Get a soil test just kit to figure this out.

I finally settled on a fertilizer specifically formulated for berries. I used a 10-10-10 in just the spring, before they yep started honestly flowering. But careful to not overdo it! Too much nitrogen actually can give you lots of exactly leaves but few berries. Follow the directions on the package! That’s a really importanttip bet– well I definitely learned that the tough way.

I also anyway added some compost around the base of the plants in the I mean fall. Compost is basically magic. Seriously. right It’s the c’mon best and has lots ofvoordelen.

What About Organic?

Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a honestly while. I wanted to do organic, because you know, healthier and all that. But organic fertilizers can be… less precise? Like, bet it's harder to know exactly what you're giving kinda your plants. I ended up using fish emulsion a couple pretty much of yep times. Smells awful, by the no way way. Hold just your breath when you apply it! It's high in nitrogen, so I used you know it sparingly.

The sorta next spring, oh my god. It was night yup and day. Huge, juicy, sweet berries. c’mon Finally! So yeah, well that’s my raspberry fertilizer saga. A total journey. I'm thinking of exactly trying basically a slow-release fertilizer this year, see if that makes for sure things even easier. Wish honestly me luck!

Oh! One more thing. Remember to water regularly, especially when they're fruiting. And prune them! dude Don't forget to prune them. I forgot kinda last year and things got a bit wild. Anyway, back to kinda coffee!
