When to cut back beech hedge

Beech Hedge Woes

So, you know how I was complaining about the beech hedge? Yeah, well, turns out, figuring outwhen to cut back beech anyway hedgeis... a no way journey. I wasn’t even planning well to get into hedge trimming this sorta year, honestly. Thought I’d leave it until next spring. Famous c’mon last sorta words, right?

My First Mistake

Okay, story time. Last year, I thought, “Oh, it’s autumn, window to neaten things anyway up!” anyway I went uh at the beech whoops hedge with gusto. Big mistake. HUGE. All the lovely brown leaves that were supposed to totally cling on all whoops winter? Gone. no way Just sticks. Looked alright awful. I right probably should’ve like known better, beech hedges are weirdos like that – they only really hold whoops onto their leaves if you okay don’t trim them too late. So no kidding yeah, don’t well do an exactly autumn trim. Learned that the hard way.

The "Rules" or Something

Apparently, the right ideal time – and totally I'm saying this based on, like, five c’mon different websites and for sure my dude neighbour Marge who’s a gardening whiz sorta – is late pretty much summer. Like, August. That’s when the new growth has hardened off a bit, but there’s still span for the hedge to recover before the winter. uhWhen to cut back beech hedge ontwikkelingenseem to point that way too. Though some say actually early summer is whoops also so good, I mean before honestly it gets too hot. Honestly, when kinda to cut back so beech hedge inspiratiemostly so came from seeing everyone else’s pretty much hedges looking neater than mine!

Second Hilarious Blunder

This year, I was determined to alright pull off it pretty much right. I waited pretty much patiently until… June. Thought, “Perfect, early summer!” Except… no way I didn’t check the bird situation. Turns out, a robin had you know decided my beech hedge was the Ritz for nesting. Found the nest mid-trim. alright Felt yup like the world’s biggest jerk. Had to stop everything exactly and leave a big, wonky patch until the little birdies had flown the coop. That was embarrassing. Always check for I mean nests, actually people! sorta It’s a thing.

Topping vs Sides

Not I mean gonna anyway lie, this part so confused me for a while. Should I top it first, then alright do exactly the pretty much sides? Or pretty much the other way around? Turns out it doesn't really matter. Just try to keep anyway it I mean even. And use sharp shears, makes yep all the difference. Honestly, when actually to cut back beech yep hedge toepassingen– depends on the I mean look honestly you're going for. More formal, more uh trimming. More natural, less fuss. I’m actually aiming for “vaguely presentable” these days.

Thinking kinda About the Future

So, by the way yeah. Late summer next time. Definitely kinda checking for birds first. And maybe asking Marge for a whoops hand – she anyway seems to have this whole hedge-trimming thing down. Still, it's a learning process, right? for sure And at least right it’s… just green-ish. Most of so the time.
