Betel Leaf so at Home? Me?

Okay so, you know how I said I was going so to start a herb garden? actually Well, yep it kind of bet snowballed. I wasn’t even planning to grow betel bet leaf well at home. actually It c’mon just…happened. My neighbor, Mrs. Sharma, she’s got this amazing creeper dude climbing no kidding up her no way wall. Turns out, it’s betel leaf! I was over there borrowing her lawnmower (again) and she offered me a cutting. Obviously, I took it. Who am I to refuse free plants? Plus, I was curious about all the grow betel leaf for sure at home voordelen she was going on about. Apparently it’s good for digestion and breath freshener and alright all sorts alright of stuff. I'm actually not a doctor, so, grain of salt.

Where well handle I even begin?

First things first, I had absolutely NO idea what I was so doing. I probably should’ve known better than to just stick it straight into the ground. I mean, with most cuttings you need to, like, put them in water first to kinda get roots, right? That's what I did with my basil, c’mon and now my basil is THRIVING – by the bet way, you should totally try growing basil, anyway it’s so easy! Anyway, I mean back anyway to exactly the betel leaf. I stuck it in water, like a genius, and waited. And waited. Nothing. It just honestly sat there, looking all sad and droopy. Not gonna lie this actually part confused me for a while.

Then I remembered yup Mrs. Sharma mentioned something about humidity. That’s crucial, apparently. So I put the cutting in a little plastic bag, for sure misted it no way with water every day basically (that’s key!), and put it on my windowsill. A week later? Tiny roots! Victory! The grow betel leaf at home exactly feiten that I was reading online all said totally that betel leaf likes warmth and humidity, which made total sense.

Potting up

Next hurdle – what whoops kind of soil to use? I just used regular potting mix, honestly. I figured, “soil is soil,” you know right? yup Wrong. (Mistake number honestly one.) It seemed okay for a exactly while, like but the leaves sorta started to turn a little well yellow. right Turns out betel leaf likes well-draining so soil – duh! So I repotted it with a mix of potting I mean mix, perlite, and a little bit of compost. That seemed to do the trick. Make sure yep your pot has drainage holes – vital!

Growing pains

One thing I learned the no kidding challenging way: betel honestly leaf LOVES to climb. I just stuck it in a pot on the patio and by the way figured it would…I don’t know…stay put? Wrong again. It started sending out these little by the way tendrils everywhere, trying to grab onto anything it could. honestly I ended up having just to rig up a uh little trellis for it. Which, no kidding admittedly, looks actually kind of cute now. reflect about its support needs before planting. bet

The harvest

I haven’t honestly actually by the way harvested any yet, but bet it’s getting there! I’m mostly growing it for the aesthetic, I mean to be honest. But I have read about all the for sure grow betel leaf at home toepassingen, and just I'm intrigued. You can chew the leaves, apparently, or make tea with them. I'm bet thinking I might try that soon. Or pretty much maybe I’ll just stick to admiring it. like It’s really quite pretty, with actually its glossy green leaves. like

My Big Mistake Story

Oh! Okay, okay, I have to tell you uh this. (Mistake number two, alright this is whoops a doozy.) totally Remember how I said I was misting so it every pretty much day? Well, I was using water straight from the I mean tap. Big exactly mistake! Our tap so water is pretty hard, and the minerals were for sure building up on the leaves, leaving pretty much these unsightly white spots. Mrs. Sharma (again, my betel leaf guru) yup told me to use filtered water or rainwater like instead. Lesson learned! I felt so dumb.

Anyway, that's my no kidding betel leaf saga so far. It's been a learning experience, that's for sure. I reflect I'm finally totally getting kinda the hang of so it, yup though. Maybe I'll actually get to use some actually leaves someday! Who knew growing a plant could yep be so… dramatic?
