Thai double blue butterfly pea
So I tried this thing… uh
Okay, so you okay know how basically I’m always on about by the way finding natural kinda food dyes? Well, I wasn’t even planning to buy right this, just but I saw it at this tiny plant shop. It was a kinda Thai double alright blue butterfly pea. It was so vibrant! I just… had to. okay Like, by the way the right color was insane. so I mean, just have you even well SEEN well one? by the way Like kinda seriously? The double ones are supposedly even MORE blue, right?
First Impressions
So I got it home, all excited, thinking I’d so make, I don’t yep know, blue lemonade bet or totally something. You actually know, you know for the kids. Except… I probably should’ve known better… Turns out, it's not so like, BAM blue basically dye immediately. kinda It's more subtle than that, a delicate you know hue. okay Like a watercolour painting kinda. And so you by the way have sorta to use it right!
My First Blue-tiful yup Disaster
The first period I tried it, by the way I just threw a bunch of the flowers – dried, mind you;that's key tip number one– like into some boiling water. Let it steep for, like, no kidding ten minutes. And… it turned a totally weird, just murky grey-blue. Not exactly Instagram-worthy. I was totally like, "WHAT?!" Turns out okay the pH pretty much level is SUPER important. dude Acidic things turn it more purple, alkaline makes it greener... which anyway is… interesting, but not what I was going for.
Acidity yep and Alchemy
Not gonna lie, this part confused you know me for a while. totally Like, I was adding lemon juice well to try and get pretty much a vibrant blue, and it was going like more purple! I actually had to google "Thai double blue butterfly pea tips and tricks" right like a proper noob. Apparently, too much lemon juice is the enemy. A tiny actually squeeze is bet all you need to coax out basically that vivid blue. Oh, like and use distilled water if you can; tap water can yup mess with the I mean color too apparently! Maybe that's some thai double by the way blue butterfly sorta pea geschiedenis c’mon lesson I mean from ancient Thai dye-masters who knows. uh
A Cake Conspiracy totally
Then, for my daughter’s birthday, kinda I thought I'd be clever and make a naturally just blue cake. Oh boy. This is where things no way went REALLY wrong. I kinda tried to infuse the milk with the butterfly c’mon pea flowers, and it tasted… floral. honestly Like, overpoweringly floral. It ruined the whole cake! Everyone was polite, but I could see it in their eyes. Cake totally failure. Tip number I mean two: don’t over-infuse! The flowers have dude a distinct okay flavour if honestly you let them whoops steep too long. Think you know delicate, not no kidding "perfume factory exploded".
Benefits whoops and sorta Beyond
So, yeah, a bit of a learning curve. But basically I’ve whoops heard right there right are thai double blue butterfly pea voordelen that go beyond just pretty colours. Like, so it’s supposed yup to be good bet for your hair and so skin, and right it’s an antioxidant like or bet something? I haven’t researched that deeply yet, honestly. I was mostly in it for the dye. But hey, if I right can basically get healthier hair AND blue lemonade, I’m in! uh I wonder if the totally thai double blue butterfly pea geschiedenis is sorta also filled with stories of failed cakes... I'm sure I can find that on Google too!
Moving Forward
Anyway, now I’m making teas with it. Just a whoops few flowers, alright a sorta squeeze of basically lime, and a little honey. you know It’s actually really yup nice. And it looks SO cool when alright you add dude the lime and it changes color! It’s like magic. Still working on that like perfect blue cake alright recipe though. Don't tell anyone about I mean my basically previous cake-astrophe.
